Custom Study Tables and Built-in Desks in Malaysia
Made-to-measure desks, overhead cabinets and side storage in plywood and laminate, built in our Batu Caves workshop and installed across the Klang Valley.
A custom study table from The M Renovation is a plywood worktop built to the wall, finished in laminate, priced from RM300 per foot of width, with overhead cabinets from RM225 per foot and tall side cabinets at wardrobe rates. Delivery and installation are included across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
A built-in desk beats a bought one for the same reason a built-in wardrobe does: it uses the full width of the wall, it hides the cables, and the storage above and beside it is planned around what you actually keep there.
What we build
- Wall-to-wall desk. A worktop across the full width of a wall or alcove, on a plinth or floating on brackets, with a cable tray behind.
- Desk with overhead cabinets. Wall cabinets above the desk for files and printers, with an LED strip under them for the work surface.
- Desk with a tall side cabinet. A full-height cabinet at one end for a printer, files and a tangle of chargers, priced at wardrobe rates.
- Two-seat study for children. One long worktop with a divider, two drawer pedestals and a shelf run above.
- Home office corner. An L-shaped desk with a return, usually with a monitor riser built in.
How much does a built-in study table cost?
We price a study as parts, so you can see what each piece costs and drop what you do not need. Every rate includes delivery and installation.

A typical 6-foot desk with a run of overhead cabinets is RM1,800 for the worktop and RM1,350 for the cabinets, about RM3,150 before drawers. LED under the cabinets is RM60 per metre fitted.
Cables, sockets and lighting
A desk lives or dies on its cables. We build a tray or a cut-out behind the worktop so the power strip and chargers sit out of sight, and we mark where the sockets should go before your electrician comes. Tell us if you use two monitors, a desktop tower or a printer, because each changes where the openings go.

How a job runs
- Send the wall width and a photo. We reply on WhatsApp with a price range.
- Site measurement. We measure, agree the layout and finish, and send a written quotation. RM500, deducted if you proceed.
- Fabrication. Built in our Batu Caves workshop, three to five weeks from confirmation.
- Installation. Our own team delivers, fits and clears up.
Questions we get asked
How deep should a desk be?
600 mm is comfortable for a monitor and keyboard; 500 mm works for a laptop desk in a small room.
Floating or on legs?
Floating needs a solid wall or a concealed batten; on a plasterboard wall we add a plinth or a side cabinet to carry it.
Can it match my wardrobe?
Yes, if it is a laminate we can still get. Same code, same finish.
How long does it take?
Three to five weeks after the site measurement. Installation time depends on the size of the job and is confirmed in your quotation.
