Custom Kitchen Cabinets in Klang
Full plywood carcass built for Klang humidity, with laminate doors, delivered and installed.
Klang is close to the coast, and kitchens here live with more moisture in the air than kitchens in the hills around Gombak or Rawang. It does not announce itself. It shows up three or four years later as a swollen cabinet base under the sink, a door that no longer closes flush, or a soft corner at the back of a floor unit.
Which is why, in Klang, we would rather talk to you about the carcass than the colour.
The part you never see is the part that fails
A kitchen cabinet is a box with a nice face on it. Homeowners choose the face. The box decides how long it lasts.
Our boxes are full plywood. Plywood is built from cross laid layers, so when it does meet moisture it resists swelling and it keeps holding screws. Chipboard and MDF are pressed particles with glue. Get them properly wet once, under a leaking sink trap or a washing machine hose, and they puff up and never recover. You cannot repair that. You replace the unit.
In a drier climate you might get away with it. Along the Klang coast, with the humidity that comes off the straits, we think it is a false saving. The doors are laminate, which wipes clean and does not need refinishing. We do not offer veneer, and humidity is exactly why.
Small things that matter more in Klang
- Sealed edges on every cut, especially the base units either side of the sink.
- A gap behind the carcass so air can move rather than trapping damp against the wall.
- Adjustable legs instead of a solid plinth sitting directly on the floor, so a wet floor is not in permanent contact with the cabinet.

Per running foot, delivery and installation included. Klang is about an hour from our Batu Caves workshop and that travel is already in the rate.

A worked example
Galley kitchens are common in Klang terraces, with cabinets down both walls. Take 8 feet on each side, so 16 running feet in total, bottom and top.
Bottom is 16 by RM450, which is RM7,200. Top is 16 by RM225, which is RM3,600. The kitchen comes to RM10,800, delivered and installed. Quartz across the same 16 feet would add RM2,880.
Approvals in Klang
Klang is under Majlis Bandaraya Diraja Klang. Fitted carpentry is not structural work, so a cabinet job does not need a council permit.
The permit conversation starts if you are opening up a wall, extending the kitchen into the back yard, or altering the layout of the house. Extensions at the back are common in older Klang terraces and many were built by previous owners, sometimes without approval. If your kitchen sits inside one of those extensions, tell us. It does not stop us building cabinets, but it does change what we can safely fix into the walls.

The hardware fails before the box does
One thing we would flag specifically for Klang. In humid air, cheap hinges and runners are usually the first thing to go, well before the carcass shows any sign of trouble. You notice it as a door that sags out of line, or a drawer that stops gliding and starts scraping.
Soft close hinges and drawer runners are standard on our kitchens rather than an upgrade line at the bottom of the quote. It is not a luxury in a coastal climate, it is the part you touch a dozen times a day, and replacing bad hardware later costs more in labour than fitting decent hardware once.
If you are comparing quotes, ask what hinges are included and whether soft close is inside the price or added afterwards. It is one of the most common places a cheap number hides.
Common questions
Is plywood worth the difference in price?
In Klang, yes. The saving on a chipboard carcass is small and the failure mode is total. You do not repair a swollen base unit, you replace it.
Can you match cabinets to what I already have?
Often yes, if the existing run is in good condition. Bring us a photo and we will tell you honestly whether a match will look intentional or obvious.
Do you handle plumbing and tiling?
Only as part of a full renovation, not as a standalone job. For a cabinet only job we build around your existing plumbing and finishes.
What about wardrobes while you are here?
Built in wardrobes start at RM950 per foot for a 9 foot height, delivered and installed. Doing them in the same visit as the kitchen saves a second trip out to Klang.
